An interesting debate has started up in Australia over the past few days.
It all started when a breast-feeding mother was asked to cover up when she was feeding her small child at a public pool.
Well known TV presenter David Koch, made the comment on live TV that ‘women should be more discrete when breast-feeding in public and that they should go some where less busy or cover up out of respect for others’.
A protest was organised outside the TV studio today in support of breast-feeding women. Over 100 women conducted a peaceful protest, while many feed their babies in the public space.
David Koch has received many comments after he voiced his view live on TV. You might be surprised to learn that some women even supported David Koch’s comments.
I have breast-feed two children over the past 7 years. My first child for 10 months and my second for 6 months.
I must say that in my experience, I found it difficult to cover up most times and I would take myself off somewhere less public. Not because I was concerned about offending anyone, but it made me feel more comfortable.
Breast-feeding is a beautiful and natural necessity. Women should be empowered to make their own choices about what is write for them and their children.
As you are probably already aware, the experts say that approximately 80% of women are wearing the incorrect bra size.
There are a few simple tests you can do at home to access whether your bra is fitting you correctly.
Stand in front of the mirror in your current bra:
Your nursing bra should fit firmly around your ribcage.
Ensure your straps are not digging into your shoulders. Adjust the straps if needed.
The back band should not cut into your back tissue. Loosen the hook and eye as needed. If this is not possible you require a larger band size.
Your back band should not ride up your back. It should sit comfortably in a horizontal position. Adjust the hook and eye to achieve this position. If this is not possible, you will need to go down a band size.
Importantly, your breasts should not appear to bulge over the top or sides of the cups. If this occurs you need to go up a cup size.
Ensure your breasts are filling out the bra cups, and that they fully encompass the bra. The band should fit firmly against your rib cage. If it pushes forward the cup is too small. You will need to go up a cup size.
If your bra cups are not filled out, baggy or loose, we recommend you go down a cup size.

The birthing of your baby should be a joyous experience for you AND your baby. Birth is a normal event in a woman’s life and is definitely NOT a medical event. Fear is the major contributing factor causing long labours with medical interventions. Pregnant women are exposed to so many fearful stories from many different sources that is difficult to ignore.
The Hypnobirthing pre-natal program will eliminate all fears and anxieties. You will learn deepening techniques to bring about peace and tranquility. Understanding the way in which your mind/body functions, without fear, is an enlightening experience, and the skills learned can be used in all aspects of life.
If you truly want to have a ‘normal’ birth, without medical interference, then this course will show you a ‘still’ sense of peace and well-being. You will leave feeling empowered, connected with your unborn baby and looking forward to labour and birth.

Cake Lingerie specialise in designing beautiful flexible wired bras suitable for both pregnancy and breastfeeding. Product choices range from Contour T shirt bras, feminine basics to beautiful fashion pieces.
Flexible wired bras are a great option for fuller figured women and for those women who want a great shape and extra support.
It is advisable that you only wear a flexible wired bra once your breast growth has stabilised. This means we do not recommend wearing a flexible wired bras during the first 8 weeks of pregnancy or the first 4 weeks post birth. As during these times a woman will experience rapid breast growth. Some women can increase up to 3 cup sizes during these periods.
It is our recommendation that you get correctly fitted for your flexible wired bra. The wire should fit safely around the breast and should not dig into the breast tissue. No discomfort should be felt at any time. 3-9 months of pregnancy and around 6 weeks post birth are generally the best times to wear flexible wired bras. As during these times breast growth has stabilised.
A correctly fitted flexible wired bra should feel fantastic. It will give you superior support, great shape and a fabulous profile.
Every woman is different. However, it is generally recommended that women should purchase her first cup-sized bra at 3 months of pregnancy. This is usually when women’s breasts have settled down from the rapid growth, which is often experienced during this time.
The first trimester can be a very uncomfortable time. This is due to sensitivity and rapid growth to the breasts. Wearing a cup-sized bra is not recommended, as they can be restrictive and compress the breast. This can cause permanent damage.
So what is a woman to do?
Cake Lingerie has designed the perfect bra for the first 3 months of pregnancy, sleep and post birth.
